Waaree Energies Launches Ultra-Light Flexible Solar Modules
Waaree Energies Ltd has introduced its Flexible Light-Weight (FLW) solar modules, designed for installations on curved surfaces and structures incompatible with traditional glass panels. The Mumbai-based manufacturer claims these modules are 70% lighter than conventional panels, with a thickness under 3.5 mm.
The FLW series requires minimal roof strength—just 8kg/m²—and can be bonded directly to surfaces without drilling. Select models deliver up to 500W output with 18% efficiency, featuring ETFE frontsheets and IP67 junction boxes. "Cities need solar that adapts to them—not the other way around," said Nilesh Malani, Waaree's Chief Marketing Officer.
Target applications include metro facades, petrol pump canopies, and urban rooftops with limited load capacity. Four variants range from 84W to 500W, addressing street lighting, transit systems, and building-integrated photovoltaics. The design eliminates leak risks associated with roof penetrations.
With 16.7 GW of global manufacturing capacity, Waaree operates facilities in India and Texas, serving markets worldwide.
